LARNACA, CYPRUS - When it comes to matters of the heart, things can sometimes fly way off course. Take for example the dramatic hijacking of an Egyptian passenger plane. The good news is, it ended peacefully after several hours.  But get this....the suspect`s motive may have nothing to do with terrorism.

Egypt’s foreign ministry is calling the hijacker an idiot, not a terrorist.

The hijacker identified as Seifdeen Mustafa can be seen on surveillance cameras going through airport security in Alexandria Egypt without being stopped. He allegedly threatened to all kill 72 people on board the Airbus 320, apparently, because of problems in his love life.

Ahmed Adel, Vice Chairman of EgyptAir says, "We got a call into our operations room from the captain, that he has info about one person who's claiming to have an explosive belt and asked to divert the plane to Istanbul or anywhere else in Europe.”

The plane was headed to Cairo. About 30 minutes in, Mustafa had the flight diverted to Cyprus.

He released nearly everyone except a few crew members and began demanding a meeting with his ex-wife. Witnesses say he tossed a letter for the woman onto the tarmac.

The love-struck hijacker eventually let everyone go and gave himself up. The entire matter is under investigation.
