HOUSTON, TX- At this weekend's Houston Japan Festival at Hermann Park, many participants had a heavy heart, keeping in mind the victims of this week's two earthquakes in South Japan. At least 41 people have been confirmed dead following Thursday and Saturday's earthquakes in the Kyushu region of Japan.

"There are a lot of people that have died because of that, and thousands are suffering, so let's pray, let's encourage them and let's love them," Pastor Hiro Nishi of the International Christian Church of Houston said.

While there were many activities to celebrate Japanese and Japanese-American culture at the festival, donations were also being collected to send to the relief effort in Japan.
