HOUSTON -- A community is searching for answers after a deadly mass shooting in west Houston on Sunday.

A backpack found at the scene of the shooting in Memorial Trails could possibly shed some light as Houston police continue to investigate.

Police say a gunman armed with a high powered rifle opened fire at Memorial Auto Repair Shop, injuring eight and killing one.  Witnesses say an innocent bystander who was taking his car to get detailed was fatally shot.

The shooter was killed by officers. Two deputy constables were also injured, but they have since been treated and released. The shooter's identity has not yet been released.

Authorities are expected to hold a press conference Tuesday to update the public.
