LOS ANGELES, CA -  In Orlando, one tragedy too many; in Los Angeles, a tragedy avoided. . .

LA Pride fest carried on yesterday honoring Orlando's shooting victims.  They could have experienced a similar tragedy had it not been for a police tip.

Thankfully, the crisis was averted.

According to Los Angeles Police, a neighbor called in a tip warning them about 20-year-old James Wesley Howell. The 20-year-old was headed to LA's Gay Pride Fest.

Police say they found Howell sitting in his white Acura stocked up with weapons. These included three assault rifles, a rifle scope, powerful magazines, ammunition, a gas canister, a five gallon bucket with chemicals used for making a bomb, and a vest with a security badge.

This is not Howell's first run-in with the law. Last year, police say his 17-year-old boyfriend accused Howell of threatening him with a rifle.

The community is relieved, as they continue to show solidarity for Orlando.

Howell's neighbor says ""thank God for the police catching this guy. It's just sickening."
