HOUSTON – Heavy storms moved swiftly across the Houston area Tuesday, prompting a Flash Flood Warning and reports of high water spotted in the area.

The National Weather Service issued a Flash Flood Warning for far southeast Houston until 3.45pm, but that has since expired.  Two to three inches of rain has already fallen, with additional rainfall possible.

Residents are urged to avoid bayous/streams and creeks, and delay traveling until the threat has passed. Remember, it only take a few inches of water to float a vehicle, and most flood-related deaths happen on roadways.

When you see water on the road, Turn Around, Don’t Drown (R).
