HOUSTON - Houston police confirm that two officers shot and killed a man who was armed with a revolver early Saturday morning on Cullen Boulevard and Ward Street.

Officials say two officers saw a black man in the road with a revolver. Officers L. Lopez and E. Macias were in their patrol car and requested that the man put down his weapon, but he would not comply. Police say a witness also asked the man to drop the revolver, but instead of doing that, the man raised the weapon in the air and then pointed it at the officers.

That's when authorities tell us the two veteran officers shot the victim multiple times before he died on scene.

That man was identified as Alva Braziel by a woman claimed to be the man's wife.

Officer Macias is a 10-year veteran of the force while Lopez has been with the force for 13 years. As is routine following any officer-involved shooting, the officers will be investigated by internal affairs, along with Harris County.
