Every shelter in the Greater Houston area is overcrowded with dogs and cats, but that's nothing unusual for this city. Animal lovers hope Clear the Shelters will solve a that problem, at least a little bit. Never heard of it? Clear the Shelters is a nationwide campaign to get dogs adopted on July 23rd.

For this "dog gone" special, BARC cats and kittens are only $20. Puppies 4 months and younger are $75, dogs older than that are $20.

Prices vary at the different shelters. For instance, in Fort Bend County, dogs are a steal at $10 and cats are at a nice price of $5.

Clear the Shelters wants everyone to to adopt. Hard to argue because for the price of dinner, you can have a best friend for life!
