CONROE, TX — It was deadly day Sunday afternoon on Lake Conroe after a man and woman drowned  within minutes of each other.

Montgomery County deputies said a 50-year-old man was swimming with family members in Conroe Park when he went under and didn't come back up.

His body was recovered a short time later, officers said.

And then — not even a half an hour later — deputies said a 68-year-old woman drowned while swimming on the north side of the lake. Investigator said her husband tried to save her, but she later died at the hospital.

Now, constables are asking people to use the buddy system and wear life jackets while boating.
