CORAL SPRINGS, Fl. - Talk about "pole" position!

A Florida mom crashed her minivan into a metal fence and a pole shot through the windshield, just barely missing her 4-year-old toddler who was strapped in her child seat!

Firefighters who arrived on the scene say "the pole was inches away from striking the child," so naturally the mom said she doesn't even want to think about it.

Who could blame her? That's just a little too close for comfort!

Police say the woman lost control for a couple of seconds while she was driving, and as she veered off the road, she hit the curb and plowed right into the fence.

Miraculously, the toddler escaped the crash with just a tiny bump on her head, but was taken to the hospital as a precaution.

Coral Springs Firefighters posted on Facebook, "This has to be the close call of the year."

But considering what that pole did to the passenger side head rest, this might just be the close call of the century!
