LOS ANGELES — Cleveland born musician, Scott Ramon Seguro Mescudi has checked himself into rehab for depression.

Of course, ya'll know him as Kid Cudi.

But behind the futuristic beats, seems he's been fighting anxiety and depression for years. He tells fans in an emotional note on Facebook, it's time to be proactive about his mental health.

"I checked myself into rehab for depression and suicidal urges," he writes. "I'm not at peace. If I didn't come here, I would've done something to myself."

While he expressed shame and apologized, the 32-year-old musician has seen an outpouring of support from fans and other entertainers.

Indie pop duo Tegan & Sara call him "brave" via tweet. Fall Out Boy's Pete Wentz tweets "Letting the world see your humanity is inspiring."

Cudi says he got all his business squared away before checking himself in and his new album will be released while he focuses on his recovery.

Borrowing one of his song titles, best of luck, Cudi, in your "Pursuit of Happiness."
