HOUSTON -- This week film critic Dustin Chase takes a look at two films hoping to be award season contenders. The first, The Birth of a Nation is the controversial story of Nat Turner who lead a brutal slave revolt. Controversy happening with the director and star Nate Parker will have an effect on its awards chances. The Girl on the Train, adapted from the bestseller hopes to put Emily Blunt in the best actress race, but why did this movie skip all the film festivals? Masterminds is the new comedy from Zach Galifianakis and Kristen Wiig that focuses on the crazy true story of the country’s largest robbery. Those movie reviews coming up on this week’s Flix Fix.
