HOUSTON - Every dog has its day, but Monday was just not the day for one dog in north Houston.

Sadly, a female German Shepherd had to be put down after someone duct-taped and dumped her on the side of the road on Rushcreek, near Spears.

HPD officer V.E. Rogers said, "We found that a dog was....had duct tape over its eyes, bleeding, appeared to be from the inside and out . looked like some kind of infection going on with her lower legs."

Houston SPCA-a says the dog had multiple tumors and punctures, and her skull was crushed beyond repair.

There's no doubt this kind of treatment is cruel and unusual.

"Dogs get dumped on the side of the road all the time, unfortunately. the duct tape issue is a rare occurrence....Hopefully she's got a microchip and trace an owner back to her," added Sgt. Christine Kendrick with Harris County Pct. 1.

Now, police are on the prowl to find whoever did this.

A five-thousand dollar reward is being offered for info leading to an arrest.

Whoever is responsible needs to be put in a cage of their own, and kept on a pretty tight leash.
