Woman dies in fatal crash on Katy Freeway, 6 injured

HOUSTON – Houston police are investigating a deadly crash involving a woman who died, and six others injured on Katy Freeway early Sunday morning.

According to the Houston Police Department, a blue SUV was driving eastbound on Katy Freeway and crashed into a black car that was moving slower around 1 a.m. at Washington Avenue.

The impact cause the black car to skid off the road, and into the grass on the side of the freeway.

The blue SUV spun around and was hit head on by a gold car.

The Houston Fire Department had to extract both victims out of their vehicles, since they were pinned inside.

The male driver and female passenger in the blue SUV were taken to Ben Taub hospital, where the female later died.

The victims in the black and gold vehicles were taken to various hospitals, with a total of seven people from three automobiles.

HPD is investigating to determine if alcohol was a factor.

If the driver of the blue SUV was found to be intoxicated, he could face intoxication manslaughter charges.
