NEW YORK — If you can tell a lot about a person by where they hang their hat at night, Heath Ledger may have been walking on the edge of insanity while researching his portrayal of “The Dark Knight's” Joker.
Ledger didn't just fill his mind with info on the infamous Mr. J, he lived in a shrine to the iconic lunatic.
Ledger was found dead from an overdose of prescription drugs in his Manhattan loft apartment in 2008. According to the New York Post, investigators walked into a makeshift altar of sorts with comic books, literature on the joker and clowns, and small clown statues arranged all over his apartment.
They even found recordings of Ledger practicing different voices for the part.
The source goes on to say while the loft was filled with research on a chaotic lunatic, it was in fact well organized and “immaculately clean.”
A 2012 documentary called “Too Young to Die,” gives fans a look into the journal Ledger kept during his incarnation of the Joker.
If his pad looked anything like these pages, it's scary stuff.
