HOUSTON — The Houston Police Department has arrested a serial robbery suspect Alvaro Javier Hidalgo, who is believed to have committed at least nine armed robberies on the city's north side all while impersonating a police officer.

The 42-year-old is charged with three counts of aggravated robbery with a deadly weapon, including an incident in which Hidalgo allegedly approached a victim at a Katz Boutique, pulled out a gun and said he was a cop before demanding the victim's wallet and truck keys.

Hidalgo then drove off with the victim's truck, investigator said.

Police said Hidalgo may have worked with an accomplice who is still on the streets.
