Cocaine, Xanax, guns seized during traffic stop in Friendswood

FRIENDSWOOD, Texas — Three people were arrested early Sunday after officers found drugs, guns and money while conducting a traffic stop in Friendswood.

According to Friendswood police, an officer noticed a vehicle exiting the Baywood Apartments onto FM 2351 without using a turn signal and making a wide right-hand turn shortly before 2:30 a.m. The officer continued to watch the vehicle and noticed it drift and straddle two lanes.

The officer then pulled the vehicle over in the 4000 block of FM 2351.

Police said the driver, Angel Adonai Navarro-Vega, 19, did not have a driver’s license and was unsure if the vehicle had insurance. He presented the officer with a Mexico identification card.

As the officer spoke with Navarro, she detected the smell of marijuana and confronted Navarro about the odor. Navarro produced two glass jars filled with marijuana buds.

A search of the vehicle yielded five ounces of marijuana, 15.7 grams of Ecstasy, Xanax, two guns, a scale, plastic baggies and cash.

Navarro-Vega was charged with unlawful carrying weapons and possession of marijuana. His bond was set at $10,000.

Andrea Beatriz Lopez, 20, and Hunter Duane Johnson, 17, were passengers in the vehicle.

Johnson, of Houston, was charged with unlawful carrying weapons and possession of a controlled substance. His bond was set at $11,000.

Lopez, of Houston, was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia. Her bond was set at $416.
