FRIENDSWOOD, Texas β€” A grocery store clerk found herself in the middle of a real life hold up Sunday afternoon after mistaking the alleged robber for a prankster, investigators said.

It all happened at the Kroger store on W. Bay Area Boulevard, the Friendswood Police Department said. The woman allegedly walked up to the store’s customer service desk and told the clerk, “This is a robbery. Give me everything you have.”

The clerk initially thought the robbery was a joke but quickly realized it wasn’t when the woman started to dig into her purse for a weapon, authorities said.

Surveillance cameras captured the robbery as she left the scene with an undisclosed amount of cash and hoped into a silver four-door sedan, investigators said.

Police said no weapon was seen during the crime.

Investigator described the woman as young and petite. She was wearing a green sweat pant suit, khaki baseball cap and black shoes at the time of the robbery, police said.
