HPD: Hit-and-run driver dragged moped rider across several lanes

HOUSTON — Investigators are trying to find a hit-and-run driver accused of injuring a moped rider in the Galleria area, the Houston Police Department said.

The victim was traveling eastbound on the feeder road of the West Loop South Freeway  shortly before 11 p.m. on Aug. 9 when the moped was struck from behind by a gray Honda Accord. The bike was dragged through several lanes of traffic, officers said.

Police said the driver continued down the road without stopping and rendering aid to the victim.

The moped rider suffered serious injuries and was taken to the hospital for treatment, officers said.

Police said the male suspect’s car had a partial plate of 2855.

Anyone with information in this hit-and-run is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS (8477). The agency is offering an up to $5,000 reward for any tips leading to an arrest.
