HOUSTON - On Sunday, a group of protesters held a "Houston Against Trump" demonstration to rally against President-elect, Donald Trump.

The organizers described people who would attend as "people who are opposed to the racism, anti-immigrant hysteria, misogyny, anti-worker politics, and authoritarianism of President-elect Donald Trump."

"The situation is dividing, not the protest itself," said C.J Hicks, one of the protesters. "The point of protest is to make people aware of the situation and just dismissing the protest out of hand, without even considering the reasons behind the protest, is part of the problem."

The demonstration was organized by the Houston Socialist Movement, Socialist Alternative, Brown Berets de TejAztlan, Black Lives Matter—Houston, Latinos Inmigrantes Triunfadores,  Familias Inmigrantes y Estudiantes en la Lucha, and Students for a Democratic Society.
