SAN ANTONIO — The San Antonio Police Department have made an arrest in the shooting death of an officer at a traffic stop over the weekend, authorities said.

Investigators said Otis Tyrone McKane, 31, was arrested Monday afternoon while riding near FM 1516 and Interstate 10 in San Antonio.

A woman was driving the car with McKane and a 2-year-old passenger inside, police said. Investigators said it was not the black vehicle the suspect was seen driving at the time of the shooting.

He was arrested without incident, officers said.

McKane is charged with capital murder.

"We're relieved to take him into custody without any additional lost of life," Chief William McManus said.

Police are still searching for a motive, and McManus said the investigation is far from over.

"We had him under surveillance, and at the appropriate time, SWAT team stopped him and arrested him,"McManus said.
