HOUSTON -- Time for your Monday Motivation fitness tip of the day. It’s common for a person to eat 4,000 calories on Thanksgiving day! That's more than double what you may normally eat. Between stuffing and pies, we get a little carbohydrate crazy!
Carbohydrates are stored in your body’s muscles in something called glycogen stores. When glycogen stores become full- the excess carbs spill over as fat.
Not this holiday season because you can do this quick 10 to 15 minute workout at home, as a family, about 30 to 90 minutes before the big meal. Use the oven heat to your advantage to help you break a big sweat!
Here is your pre-turkey meal workout!
Perform the following exercises for 30 to 60 seconds each.
1- High knees,
2- Mountain climbers
3- Air Squats
4- Wheel barrows (for a little extra fun)
Repeat two to four times depending on how ambitious you’re feeling, and how anxious you are to chow down!
You’ll have more room for carbs, and create something called an afterburn – meaning your metabolism will be elevated and more capable of processing the extra calories.
