HOUSTON — Major Applewhite admits it's not always easy to see how he feels.

"I am extremely excited, my face doesn't always say it," Applewhite said at his introductory new conference as the new head coach for the University of Houston football team.

Applewhite served the past two years as the Cougars' offensive coordinator under Tom Herman.  A former quarterback at UT, Applewhite has spent 11 of his 13 professional coaching years in Texas.

"I've always been a winner, I'll always be a winner and I'll always set those expectations for our football team," Applewhite said.

Applewhite will be Houston's head coach for this Saturday's Las Vegas Bowl against San Diego State.
