HPD: Woman breaks into car, uses stolen credit cards at stores

HOUSTON — Police are searching for a woman accused of breaking into a car and stealing the victim’s purse, authorities said.

The woman broke into the car around 4 p.m. Oct. 15 while it was park in the 9600 block of the Katy Freeway, the Houston Police Department said. The victim realized her purse, which carrying her credit card, was missing.

The victim later found out her credit card was being used at several stores across Houston, police said.

The alleged thief was caught on surveillance footage after using the stolen card at a restaurant, police said.

Officers believe the woman has long, dark hair and a medium build. She is believed to be in her early to mid 30s.

Anyone with information regarding the theft is asked to call Crime Stoppers of Houston at 713-222-TIPS (8477). The agency is offering an up to $5,000 reward for tips leading to n arrest or charge.
