HOUSTON — Freezing temperatures and other winter weather conditions rattled the Houston area Monday night leaving thousands without power on almost all sides of the city.

Centerpoint Energy reported more than 47,000 local homes were without power at 2 p.m. The areas hit hardest include neighborhoods in far northwest Houston between Highway 290 and Highway 249, according to the company’s outage map.
