HOUSTON (KIAH) – The Houston Texans are excited to kick off another year of huddle against hunger, presented by the Kroger team and Houston Food Bank at a one-day event happening on Tuesday morning.
The Texans are working just as hard off the field as they are on the field by educating the youth on food insecurity. The team is partnering with two organizations for a day of fun, games, and prizes.
Team players will speak to the kids about healthy eating habits and participate in trivia contests.
Another thing to mention is, this year’s huddle against hunger program curriculum allows an in-person and/or virtual instruction environment.
The curriculum includes activities and discussion sheets on the consequences of hunger, an introduction to the Houston Food Bank programs, and other hands-on activities
The Houston Texans Foundation was founded in 2002 with a mission of being champions for youth. The foundation believes that youth are the champions of our future. So far, the organization has raised more than $37M through annual fundraising events.
The foundation is committed to inspiring positive change within the Houston community.
Each child will receive a huddle against hunger lanyard and snacks from Kroger and one lucky teacher will be surprised with groceries for a year with the courtesy of Kroger!
The event is happening at J. Ruth Smith Elementary School inside the auditorium at 9:30 a.m. Masks are required to attend.
