Family of student killed in HISD bus crash plans on suing

HOUSTON – The family of the 17-year-old girl who died after an HISD bus crash in southeast Houston plans to file a wrongful death lawsuit against both drivers involved in the fatal wreck.

Mariya Johnson and 14-year-old, Janecia Chatman, were both killed after the bus flew off the 610 South Loop at Telephone Road.

Three others were injured during the crash.

The bus driver has been identified as 45-year-old Louisa Pacheco. She has been with HISD foe three years and has a clean driving record.
