HOUSTON, TX – For weeks now the Houston Independent School District has been dealing with some very unhappy parents. All the drama was over the possible closure of five HISD schools. Some of the uproar is quitting down because three of the schools have been spared.

Nathaniel Q. Henderson Elementary School, Port Houston Elementary School and Fleming Middle School have been removed from consideration by the board’s president. Still on the chopping block are Jones High School and Dodson Elementary.

The HISD Board of Trustees will review those proposals at a board meeting on March 13.
