BRAZORIA COUNTY, Texas -Authorities have arrested a man they say decapitated a contractor and left his remains in a truck near Angleton. Zachary Lyn Foyt, 24, has been charged with murder.
The body of Jubal Dee Alexander was found in his truck beneath the Austin Bayou Bridge on May 3. Alexander was working as a contractor at the Ineos plant on FM 2004, and investigators believe he did not know his killer.
The Galveston County Medical Examiner’s Office conducted an autopsy to determine Alexander’s cause of death, but the findings have not yet been released. They believe the decapitation was an attempt for the suspect to conceal or destroy evidence. The motive for the killing is unknown at this time.
A witness contacted the Brazoria County Sheriff’s Office on May 24 tipping them off that Foyt was the killer.
Investigators said the witness provided verified information that had not been made public, making investigators deem the tip credible.
Authorities learned Foyt had fled the area, and later found him in Lakewood, Colorado.
Foyt remains in the Jefferson County Colorado Jail and is awaiting extradition to Texas. His bail has been set at $5 million.
The Brazoria County Sheriff’s Office received assistance from the United States Marshal’s Service Southern District of Texas, Lakewood Colorado Police Department and the Brazoria County District Attorney’s Office.
