BAREFOOT BAY, FL – Police say an alligator killed a suspected burglar.

Matthew Riggins, 22, went missing after reportedly telling his girlfriend he "was going to do burglaries in the barefoot bay area," according to Major Tod Goodyear with the Brevard Sheriff's Office.

Indeed neighbors in the Florida community reported seeing two guys dressed in black lurking behind homes, so they called the police and a search began.

But Riggins wasn’t found until days later. His body was discovered in an area pond, along with an aggressive alligator which crews euthanized. According to the medical examiner, inside the gator’s belly was proof of how Riggins met his fate.

Police picked up the other suspect. He has not been charged.
