AUSTIN, TX – Police are raising eyebrows as they target jaywalkers, and even arrest one jogger.

Police say they tried to stop the 25-year-old, but she kept going and didn’t give her name.

“At some point she knows it’s a cop. The cop asked her a lawful question which she is required to answer and she didn’t. That’s why she went to jail,” said Austin Police Chief Art Acevedo.

Most jaywalkers are just getting tickets. It has all come up because in the last five years, cops say almost 2000 people have been hurt and 96 have died from being struck by cars in the city.
