USA – Was it Romeo or Juliet who said a “rose by any other name would smell as sweet”?
Well, what about a baby named “Hashtag”? A Facebook pic of a newborn miss has been bouncing around cyberspace with a message from her ‘supposed’ mom, reading, “Hashtag Jameson was born at 10 oclock last nite. She weys 8pounds and i luv her so much!!!!!!” Bad spelling and all… it must be real! Or is it?
We’re inclined to believe this is fake. It’s got to be, right? Who would be so cruel as to name their baby after Twitter slang? What’s next? Little “imho” or “fav”? (Actually, that one’s not half bad).
Last year, some dude in Egypt named his daughter “Facebook” as a tribute to the role that site played in the Arab Spring revolution. And in Israel, a couple named their baby “Like” as in the “Like” button on Facebook. They said it was the modern equivalent of “love.” Like’s sisters are Dvash -(Hebrew for ‘honey’) and Pie… as in apple.
Hey– in this day and age, anything goes!
So don’t worry, Hashtag (if that really is your name), a crazy moniker won’t stop you from achieving awesomeness… just ask Beyonce!
