NEW YORK, NY – Hackers always seem to find a way these days. If most ATM units don’t get updated sometime soon, hackers are going to have a field day with an easy target.

The software on about 95% of bank ATM’s is Windows XP, which is pretty outdated.

Microsoft is killing off tech support for Windows XP in just over a month, meaning ATM’s with that software will no longer receive security updates. Meaning they will be more open to cyber attacks.

Now it’s a race against time for major banks to get their ATM software updated. If they don’t, the thoughts are pretty unsettling.
