BRENHAM – Ice cream? ….You scream!

….Now Blue Bell is screaming over another product recall due to concerns about possible listeria contamination!

On Wednesday, the company issued an urgent voluntary recall of select Blue Bell products containing chocolate chip cookie dough pieces which includes the flavors– Blue Bell Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough and Blue Bell Cookie Two Step.

So far, no reports of new illnesses have been linked to Blue Bell, but the company says it is voluntarily recalling the select items in response to their supplier– Aspen Hills– that makes the chocolate chip cookie dough pieces for Blue Bell.

Aspen Hills– based out of Iowa– voluntarily recalled its “no egg chocolate chip cookie dough” first, so now Blue Bell is following.

All this….as the little creamery in Brenham was getting back on its feet again after last year’s federal recall over a listeria outbreak.

Three people died and at least 10 were hospitalized from the previous listeria contamination at Blue Bell.

Now, Blue Bell fans can only hope that this latest threat melts away in a hurry!
