If you don’t know who Paulette Leaphart is, you should.

She’s a woman on a mission, marching  more than 1,000 miles topless, from Biloxi, Mississippi to the steps of the Capitol Building in Washington, D.C. in a call for change.  She’s calling for improvement of the healthcare system, and ultimately a cure for cancer.

Leaphart underwent a double mastectomy in 2014 and proudly wears her scars as a reminder of her struggle with breast cancer.

Leaphart spent up to $5,000 per month to treat her cancer, but soon the money ran out.  She’s a mother to eight children, many of which are adopted.   They lost their home, and tells ESPN she also had to sell her cars, and was forced to walk to her doctor appointments.

Throughout all this, she and her family persevered.

Sixty days later, she finished her trek to Washington, but something tells us, this is only the beginning of Paulette Leaphart’s journey.

Her story is an inspiration to us all.
