SACRAMENTO, Ca. -- California governor Jerry Brown has signed a new law that defines when "yes means yes," and changes requirements for colleges investigating sexual assault.

The legislation requires an affirmative, conscious and voluntary agreement for sex. It can be nonverbal, but it can't be drunk, drugged and sloppy.

As opposed to the "no means no" old-school approach, this affirmative perspective is sitting well with victim's advocates.
