MERCED, Ca. — No fake babies allowed! A California woman was arrested in August, after trespassing into a hospital’s maternity ward, carring two life-like baby dolls. Apparentlly this “faux” mama doesn’t know best!
Merced, California cops say they are gathering evidence against Tonya Whitney Boehs and her husband, after the pair allegedly snuck into the Mercy Medical Center’s obstetrics unit using two bogus babies. Police feared the couple were using the dolls as decoys to gain access into the ward and possibly snatch-up real children once inside! Boehs denies any wrong doing.
Hospital staff say they turned away the family with the fake kids, not once, but twice, stating Boehs had no business being inside the maternity ward if she didn’t know anybody who just gave birth. Suspicious guards even took photos of the pair “doting” over their dummies, changing diapers and posing for family pictures together. Actions that definitely raised red flags at the hospital. Boehs, on the other hand, says it’s all a misunderstanding.
You see, Boehs says she was trying to get into the infant ward to sell the life-like dolls (which she actually makes), claiming she was marketing the dolls as therapy or training tools at the hospital. Believe it or not, but that’s a sales pitch Boehs hopes prosecutors will buy.
