LONDON, ENGLAND – Heavy metal isn’t just music for hard-core rockers and real head knockers.

In England, it’s a religion, right up there with Jedi Knight.

Christianity, Islam, Hinduism, Sikhism, Judaism, and Buddhism remain the ‘Big Six’. But England’s 2011 census, which was just released, shows more than 176,000 people believe in the Jedi version of The Force.

Maybe one of the biggest surprises was that more than 6,000 people in England and Wales chose Heavy Metal as their religion. That’s more than New Age, Witchcraft, Satanism and Scientology combined.

And, it seems Norwich is teeming with Heavy Metal-ites, Metal-ers. Whatever you call them, there are 65 of them living in Norwich. Okay, so it’s not teeming, but that’s more than you probably know.

So, we’re thinking it’s a pretty good bet that England’s metal worshippers are observing Christmas the traditional way, with a Twisted Sister Heavy Metal Christmas.
