HOUSTON, TX - If you've had an extra hop in your step because you're looking forward to the spring-time sunshine, well sorry, because Mother Nature ain't hoppin'! It's a weekend of wacky weather!
We start all the way over in Nepel. A massive, 7.9 magnitude earthquake shook up the area on Saturday. The U.S. Geological Service says the quake was centered about 50 miles from the capital of Kathmandu. The damage was bad. Historic buildings were reduced to rubble. The death toll was massive, too. More than 1,000 people were killed, and as rescue crews start going through the rubble, that number is expected to rise.
Back in the U.S. it was a different story. Spring storms hit areas of Louisiana and Texas. There was a lot of clean up in Fort Worth after heavy rains, flooding and 80 mph winds slammed the area. Luckily, no major injuries were reported.
In Houston, residents woke up to the sound of thunder and rain, as early-morning storms tore through the area. Those storms were gone just as fast as they came in. Sunshine is expected back in the forecast tomorrow, that is until more rain moves in on Monday.
