Detroit apparently has some serious steering problems, taking the number one spot. Dallas pulls in at 9th place, with Houston in the rear view mirror at 15th.
Researchers took into account the number of car crashes versus fatal accidents, along with vehicle-related crimes and auto insurance rates.
Dallas drivers have a 43 percent greater chance of being in an accident compared to the rest of the country, while Houston drivers have a 37.9 percent greater chance.
As far as the safest city for drivers, Cary, North Carolina.
Nerd Wallet says car insurance rates in bigger cities are 47 percent more expensive.
