FORT BEND COUNTY — Detectives with the Fort Bend County Sheriff’s Office have released shocking details of moments leading up to a mother shooting and killing her two daughters before being gunned down by police.

The shooting left neighbors in the 6000 block of Remson Hollow Lane searching for answers, and a father grieving the loss of his wife and children.

Deputies said on Friday evening, Christy Sheats called a family meeting at their Katy area home, asking for her husband and daughters to meet her in the living room.

During that meeting, Sheats pulled out a gun and shot both girls. The husband, Jason Sheats, and the daughters all managed to run out of the house, but the youngest girl, Madison, collapsed and died outside. She was 17 years old.

Taylor, who was 22 years old, ran into the street and her mother followed, shooting her again, while the father ran to the end of the cul-de-sac.

According to a witness, Christy Sheats went back inside the home to reload the gun. She then returned and shot Taylor once more. When authorities arrived, they saw the daughters lying in the street and the mother shooting one of them.

The mother ignored officers’ commands, and an officer fired one shot, killing her. Christy Sheats was 42 years old. Investigators said the murder weapon was a five-shot, .38 caliber handgun.
Taylor Sheats was transported to Memorial Hermann Hospital, where she died.

The Sheriff’s Office has responded to 14 calls for service at the residence since January of 2012. Some were alarm issues, but due to legal constraints issued by the county attorney, the Fort Bend County Sheriff’s Office cannot describe the other calls for service, or release the 911 calls at this time.
