HOUSTON, TX - The Designing D.I.V.A.S transformed rooms at the Star of Hope Transitional Living Center from the basic to the extraordinary.
The Designing D.I.V.A.S. are professionals in interior design that volunteer with the Houston Furniture Bank to help those in need remodel their homes.
For many homeless individuals staying at Star of Hope, the make-overs were a welcome surprise.
"It makes me want to keep going," Leah Yancy said after seeing her remodeled room. "It's more comfortable now, not so empty. It motivates me, not just for me, but for my baby. It's like a new start."
Yancy is four months pregnant and is part of the center's "New Life" program, which helps young mothers-to-be and mothers who have recently given birth.
