walkHOUSTON, TX – A Gallup poll showed only 63% of Houstonians feel safe walking alone at night in their own neighborhood. This includes areas like Sugar Land and Baytown, along with the City of Houston proper.

This contradicts recent FBI statistics that rate Sugar Land as the second-safest city in the state of Texas.

HPD responds:

“The City of Houston is one of the safest cities in the nation and while there are challenges to keeping a city of this size safe, it is not a challenge that is beyond the capacity of the Houston Police Department.”

That’s pretty reassuring, but still, stay vigilant folks!
