HOUSTON — He started from the bottom. Now he's almost here! Drake's Houston Appreciation Weekend is this weekend and fans are buzzing!

Kicking things off is a pop-up shop that opened Thursday at 2101 Polk. Folks lined up and waited about an hour to get in, just 20 or so at a time.

"It's a different way to kind of communicate with the fans," explains Sierra Haq, who earned tickets to an exclusive Houston Drake show two years ago by doing community service.

Drake's Pop-Up Shop didn't look like much inside, but that didn't stop Priscilla Arizpe from spending a thousand bucks. "I'm obsessed with Drake," she says, holding five large bags of purchased goodies, "I'm a huge fan and every time he does something in Houston, I'm here."

Folks snatched up $50 shirts in all different styles, $35 hats and $40 tanks.

Don't look for Drake here in town Friday, though. He's got a show in New Orleans. But after that, he's headin' west. He may sing he 'needs a one dance,' but he's actually got two dances planned. Two shows at Toyota Center, one Saturday and one Sunday.

Will he have Rihanna in tow? Not Saturday. She's playing Jay-Z's Made in America Fest in Philly. "She's someone I've been in love with since I was 22 years old," Drake gushed at last Sunday's VMAs.

Maybe she'll show up for the Houston Celebrity Basketball Game he's playing in at TSU Sunday. It's OVO vs. Rap-A-Lot records. Tickets are pretty cheap. "I bought 'em for 20 bucks, so it's not that bad," Drake fan Eric Rico told us. Courtside seats are $100, but it's all for charity.

"He also has the pool party," says Adam Rapp, a longtime Houston rap aficionado, "which is the famous Labor Day pool party that you've notoriously seen Johnny Manziel hanging out, Jas Prince from Rap-A-Lot Records... and a lot of OGs in the game who show this kid as much appreciation as he does us."

That's Monday at an undisclosed location. Good luck getting in! Then Monday night at 8 p.m. at Warehouse Live, OVO is hosting a concert headlining their R&B duo DVSN. If Drizzy's still in town, expect him to pop-up there, too.

Sounds like just the weekend Drake fans have been waiting for!
