DUBAI – There is a new answer to the age old question: Which came first, the chicken or the egg? Apparently the answer is neither.

In this strange experiment in Dubai, the duck came first!

It’s a little thing called genetic-modification.

A duck embryo was injected with cells from a chicken, so when the duck was all grown up, he was able to mate with a hen. The hen gave birth to a baby chicken!

Science has successfully used one species to create another one, and researchers are saying this system could be used to save endangered species or even bring back extinct ones.

If a duck can father a chicken, what could an elephant father?

Maybe a wooly mammoths? It’s not out of the realm of possibility now.
