For the first time ever, an electric bike will go the distance - even if it takes riding through continents.

Thomas Tomczyk, a 20-year veteran at riding bikes hopes to be the first person to successfully ride an electric motorcycle from the U.S. to South America's Patagonia region.

"I guess if it was easier, someone else would have done it," says Tomczyk.

The ride is an event called called Electric Powered Odyssey, that raises funds for the Wounded Warriors Project, a non-profit organization that assists members of the armed forces who have been severely injured during the conflicts in Iraq, Afghanistan, and other locations around the world.

The bike has a range of about 100 miles before charging is needed and Tomczyk expects to arrive in the snowy region around October.
