ALAJUELA, COSTA RICA – A staple of the 1990s is making a comeback; the fanny pack graced runways of fashion houses such as Valentino, Coach and Marc Jacobs this spring and summer, but now Costa Rican prisoners have caught on to the pack’s practicality.

Prison guards say they caught a pigeon strapped into a fanny pack that was loaded with marijuana and cocaine. The inmates had apparently trained the bird to transport the drugs from outside the prison walls. Those prisoners now face drug crimes in addition to their obvious crimes against fashion.
