BAYOU PEROT, LA – The Bayou was on fire! No, not Buffalo Bayou! This fire broke out on a tugboat in a bayou near Lafitte, Louisiana.

The tug was attached to a barge that was carrying 5,000 gallons of fuel. The Coast Guard says the water was too shallow and the flames too intense, so they had no choice but to let the fire burn out.

Crude oil spilled into the water, so crews will be working to clean it up once the fire is out.

As for the crew members, all four of them were able to make it off. Unfortunately, one of them was taken to the hospital with severe burns.

It’s not clear what caused the explosion, but officials think the vessel might have hit a natural gas pipeline. Like any accident, they’ll continue to investigate.
