We do everything bigger down here in Texas, so of course the only logical thing to do on Groundhog Day is to bring in our own, Texas sized, weather predicting animal to let us know if we’re going to see 6 more weeks of “winter” or if it’s going to be an early spring.

Alamo the Longhorn joined the Houston Weather Research Center in celebrating Groundhog Day and a new grant the center received from State Farm Insurance to design and build a weather emergency app for phones that tracks and warns about weather such as hurricanes and tornadoes.

Even though Alamo saw his shadow, meaning six more weeks of this Houston “winter”,  I think we can all agree that the winter isn’t that bad considering that it’s February and  75 degrees today!
