HARRIS COUNTY, TX – A northwest Harris County night club owner says he’ll pay $10,000 to the person who helps him catch copper thieves who’ve cost him thousands of dollars.

Deputies say Tuesday night, someone stripped copper and metal from seven of the 12 air-conditioning units at Espuela de Oro. That destroyed the units, which cost $6,000 each to replace. The suspects apparently left several coils behind. The club owner suspected they might return to get those coils, so he hired a security guard to keep an eye out.

Around 12:15 a.m. Friday, deputies got the call that the security guard heard footsteps and noise on the roof. Units got there so fast, the suspects didn’t have time to do more damage, but they did get away.

The club owner says he will have a repairman on the property Friday morning so the club can open with A/C Friday evening.
