HOUSTON, TX – Unfortunately, disaster can strike at any time.

In Harris County, we’re prepared should something terrible befall us, and let’s hope it doesn’t!

We have a new mobile morgue.

The Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences calls it a Disaster Portable Morgue Unit.

Medical examiners and morgue staff are getting acquainted with the equipment. It has never officially been used in Texas yet, but it was on standby during the fertilizer plant explosion in West, TX last year.

Of course ideally we will never have use for it, but still, it’s good to know this new morgue has lots of life ahead.
